Nearing Bermuda (finally)
sea sightings
30.05.2008 - 31.05.2008
We are now 130 miles from St. Georges Harbor in Bermuda - have some reefs to navigate around to get to the opposite side of the islands. Should get there Saturday afternoon, if lucky in time to get through customs that night. For those with NAChart 100: we're at 31.50N 67.19W and heading 120 at this moment (bearing 106.1).
We are very ready to see land and the first one to do so gets an extra schilling. The one who picked the exact time in port gets beer and/or a spa treatment.
Things we've sighted since clearing the north end of the Bahamas shelf (9 days):
Sunsets: 6
Sunrises: 4 (see below for weather systems)
Ships: 7
Simpsons Clouds: 2
Dolphins: 3 sightings totaling about 20 individuals
Flying fish: lots (found on deck in the morning 3)
Non flying fish: 2 (both caught by Tony)
Elvis: 1 (not confirmed)
Portuguese Man of War: 74
Birds: 45
Whale spouts: 3 (in about 10 minutes)
Whales: 0
Flotsom: 83
Jetsom: 12
Trap buoys (believed to be people in need of rescue): 2
Fronts: 2
Backs: 0
Low pressure systems: 2
High pressure systems: also 2
Stars: countless
Tam and Dan send love to Savanah and Eric - can't wait for December too when everybody's together on this beautiful ship!!
Tony says he's barely alive (airdrop mountain dew at coordinates above) but glad Maria believes that he's really on this trip - thanks for the comments.
Lila says good luck to Aaron at camp.
Bruce says hello to family and Northstars and Bulldogs.
Next entry coming after we clear customs in Bermuda (a day or 10 more, who knows).

Best quote of the entry ..."airdrop mountain dew at coordinates above" ... This solidifies my believing that Tony is on board as well. I was a little hesitant to believe that he actually agreed to this!
